Boasting spectacular views over city parklands this apartment presented as the perfect place to downsize. Our client was looking for a place to call home that felt welcoming, warm and richly textured. Balancing a lifetime of carefully curated antique furniture into a contemporary living arrangement was essential in the success of this design.
A soft grey was selected for the custom kitchen joinery, providing a fresh and contemporary base on which to build a refined, luxurious palette. The classic contemporary island in dark hues of mahogany perfectly complement the client’s own collection of furniture. The client being a keen entertainer, and wine collector requested wine and book storage along with areas to display collectables. Touches of brass add another layer of texture and materiality.
This project encapsulates the role of designers in respecting and valuing cherished items as well as ingrained memories that a client may bring to a project, and in doing so, creating beautiful spaces for new memories to be made and experiences to be shared.
